‘The Healer’ sculptures in Tehran, US museums

Iran and US museums host impressive surrealist sculptures of ‘The Healer’ by Belgian artist René Magritte.

Iran and US museums host impressive surrealist sculptures of ‘The Healer’ by Belgian artist René Magritte.

‘The Healer’ sculpture made of bronze in 1967 is installed in the vicinity of the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art in the Iranian capital.

The sculpture shows a man whose head and upper body were a representation of two birds in an open cage. Given that the artist did not trust the therapists, the sculpture conveys a deep meaning of human psychology.

An installation of this work is also kept at Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden

Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art is among the largest art museums in Iran. It has collections of more than 3,000 items that include 19th and 20th century world-class European and American paintings, prints, drawings and sculptures.
